Elliot's Touch Watchet  £1,500

This is a very local charity whose little boy Elliot only lived for a short while due to a rare blood condition.  Paul and Donna his parents now work tirelesly raising funds to allow places like Great Ormond Street and Bristol Childrens Hospital continue to find a cure so that other little children won't have to suffer.

It is amazing how generous people can be when children or animals are concerned. It must be a British thing, but you won't hear me complaining.

Every time you are able to present big cheques to a worthy cause allways gives you a feeling of satisfaction that is not found anywhere else, and no matter how hard I try, the feeling of joy that the recipent has when receiving such a gift, never diminishes.

Down Memory Lane

Yes, that is where this next picture takes me, because this is where Hugill's Crew began, after we were kicked out of our cosy sitting room. We had been storing a large piece of carpet for some time after the wife had made up her mind that it had to go.   Well, what do you know?  It covered the whole of our garage floor after a little bit of trimming, so that is where it went.  Two of us then drove to the other side of Wells to rescue 20 stacking chairs but when we got home, “What on earth did you buy that lot for?” I did not hesitate with my answer. “Our recording studio” was my reply.  I knew we did'nt want them all but it didn’t take me long to move those that were surpluss.  All of this was back in 2019 just before Covid 19 shut us down for a whileOur luck improved when we were granted some funds to help us back into the swing of things, so this time it was not chairs but some white kitchen base units, Five Microphones and stands, Mic Cable, Speakers, and a large sound deck.   So as soon as the rules about a gathering of people were relaxed, we got stuck into some serious vocals.  We started getting more and more gigs which spured us on to play or rehearse longer and louder. We were having a blast and all in our late 60s

Well, we had been at it for a couple of weeks or more before a close neighbour who happened to love a capela Shanty Singing [he is a stoogy man], was shouting over the fence,”Come on lads be fair, Crank it up a bit so we can really hear every word”  and at his request we did.

The photograph is of me [extreme left hand] and my three co 70s hooligans, giving it large. “Those were the days my friend we thought they would never end, those were the days, oh yes those were the days”.

This was our second appearence at pebbles and it was while we were enjoying ourselves singing, the drawings were done. Sadly, the other drawings seem to have been lodt, so if anyuone has copies could we have a set please.
